What We Offer
Our programs are designed to meet people where they are and help them grow academically, professionally, and personally. Sessions are held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6:30 – 8:30 pm at 602 S Washington St, Kennewick, WA.
Program Highlights
Youth Tutoring & Mentoring
Volunteer facilitators from Tri-Cities churches guide students from under-privileged and refugee backgrounds. Students who don't have parents available to help with homework find mentors who read and speak with them in a non-threatening, encouraging environment.
Minority Science Research Mentoring
SDM partners with area research institutions to give minority youth hands-on exposure to science. This program has included a Minority Science Research Seminar funded in part by the Department of Energy, Richland Operations.
Adult Education
Dads and moms can come with their children. While kids receive tutoring and mentoring, parents improve their own literacy, language, and work skills and create a family-wide pathway to advancement.
Computer & Technology Skills
Participants learn practical computer and internet skills through hands-on instruction in a supportive setting, covering everything from basic operation to software tools.
Our Measurable Outcomes
We track the impact of our programs on every participant:
- Improved academic grades in students' schools
