Why Volunteer?
SDM volunteers are the heart of what we do. We recruit motivated and compassionate facilitators from Tri-Cities churches and the broader community. These well-educated, successful adults guide clients from under-privileged and refugee backgrounds to develop personal growth, interpersonal skills, and professional abilities.
You can serve once a week or once a month. Any involvement is valued and impactful. Sessions are held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 6:30 – 8:30 pm at 602 S Washington St, Kennewick, WA.
Individual Volunteer Opportunities
Reading Program
Help students and adults build reading fluency and comprehension. No teaching degree required, just patience and a love of reading.
Homework Help
Sit alongside students and guide them through their school assignments. A wide range of subjects are needed at all grade levels.
Math & Science Tutoring
Help students build confidence in STEM subjects and open doors to future academic and career opportunities.
Computer Skills
Teach basic to intermediate computer skills that are essential for today's job market and academic environment.
Bible Study
Lead or assist in faith-based discussions. All faiths are welcome in our community, though our foundation is Christian.
Cleaning & Maintenance
Help keep our center a clean, welcoming place for students and families. Practical support keeps SDM running.
Organizational & Business Partnerships
Businesses, universities, and organizations can collaborate with SDM in several ways:
- Internship placements for SDM participants
